"So what do [Britney] Spears, Madonna, and other Kabbalah devotees believe? The New Republic visited the Los Angeles Kabbalah Centre to find out. The reporter found The Rav, the leader, and his followers, chanting 'Chernobyl' and some other words he didn’t understand. 'A devotee explains, straight-faced, that these are all names of nuclear power plants,” notes the mag New Republic. “The Rav is trying to heal the problem of nuclear waste, which the Centre’s devotees believe is spreading AIDS.'"

Who the fuck is The Rav? Some pseudo-Raelian reject rabbi (pardon my alliteration) setting himself up as Moschiac? That isn't Kabbalah. I've studied some Kabalarian books and it's nothing like that horseshit. Frankly, Zohar gave me a headache, and gematriyot are interesting but my dyscalculaic mind cannot deal with them before I want to tantrum from frustration. It's not my thing, but it definitely isn't this quasi-$cieno nonsense.

I'm waiting for Xenu and the clams to show up and they can go to war with each other.

"I don't want to see anyone's semen first!"

Furniture shopping is tedious.

We went to a couple places yesterday (Ethan Allen and La-Z-Boy). The Ethan Allen lady was so...ugh. As if she sprang from the set of an HGTV program. Picture the love child of Alex Anderson and Martha Stewart, all pert and self-important. She kept foisting this godawful chenille on me for a sofa that was so incredibly goombah, I wish you all could see it but unfortunately they don't have swatches online. Ugh. It was this nasty Prussian blue geometric with coral accents.

The La-Z-Boy woman was much nicer. We priced some club chairs in this fabric we both liked (the color is not nearly so muddy in person), and I'm leaning towards it. We're going to hit up my mostest favorite store in the world today (albeit not the big Manhattan one), and I want to take a trip to Calico Corners next weekend provided J. isn't on backup duty.

I'll live with cheap furnishings for other parts of the house, but I refuse to settle when it comes to the living room seating, and the bedroom. Hell, I got us 8 kitchen chairs, two dressers, four end tables, a coffee table, a gorgeous oval mirror, and three lamps for FREE, but there are some areas where it's like hey, SPEND THE DAMN MONEY. My ass deserves to be cradled in comfort.

*happy happy happy*

:)

Today has been a delight.

I would enumerate the reasons but I need a nap. Teaser: we had to stop the car to wait for some ducks to cross the street. Yes, we made way for ducklings!

And there was a guy with a pug at Pottery Barn and his name was Pugsley. Not the guy, the pug.
