SERIOUS QUESTION ('cause SRS BSNS, natch):

In regards to the inception of [livejournal.com profile] fandom_votes:

What does being "fandom" (hey, didn't even know that was an adjective until today) have to do with being qualified to serve on the LJ Advisory Board?

I like stuff. Does that make me "fandom" of said stuff? Do I need to know a secret handshake? If I dress up like HR Pufunstuf and write slashfic based on Enoch the Sleestak/Sigmund the Sea Monster does that get me in the club, and somehow make my voting bloc more significant?

[livejournal.com profile] jameth is penis fandom, I guess. Or anus fandom. Depends on his mood and what [livejournal.com profile] asphaltwanderer and he sort out in bed; it's not my bailiwick either way. Regardless, one's hobbies or proclivities have no bearing on what makes a person the best candidate for the position being voted for.

Someone kindly explain this to me. Use small words, big words, just no Cyrillic because I can't read that.
