People have been telling me what a debilitating pain it's supposed to be, "worse than childbirth" etc. I dunno, I can still get around the house and work.
If this is worse than childbirth maybe I should abandon my CF stance and just pop out spawn for eager breeders.
LOL they're not that bad. It's more the kind of pain you get when you have to go to the bathroom for an extended period of time and you're denying yourself.
This is like a weird backache. I've had UTIs in the past (not for over a decade, thank god) and THAT is fucking awful. Jesus christ, I tried to describe it to someone as "imagine your bladder is bursting full of lava and tabasco. your dilemma is either you keep the lava and tabasco inside, or you have lava and tabasco COMING OUT OF YOUR WEE WEE."
omggggg poor bb!!!! cranberry juice, water, and vicodin! i never take the opiates. they make me super angry and i will start fights with the mailman. it's kinda lol.
depends on the level of pain. sometimes demerol or diuladin (sp?). vicodin is an opiate tho, just a super mild synthetic one (hydrocodone). even that will make me SUPER grumpy tho.
Vicodin is gonna make me crash and get weepy in a few days. The only stuff I've ever been given that made me rage out was Ativan when I was in a hospital a couple years ago and man, did I ever give people a hard time.
Ooh ouch :( I worry about stuff like that. I'm anticipating the Vicodin downer on about tuesday or so--there will likely be some terribly whiny LJ entries from me that day.
Supposedly if I dont drink enough water while Im taking this medication Im on I can get kidney stones. And Im fricking awful at drinking water. Because it tastes like nothing and isn't fizzy. But so far no kidney stones. I'm a huge pussy when it comes to pain, too. But I LOVE painkillers, so that will be cool.
I don't like taking Vicodin too much but eh, I'll deal with it.
I've got a really high pain threshold--I was told this many times as a kid by various doctors. One of them looked at an ear infection I had once and asked why the hell I wasn't climbing the walls based on what he saw.
I feel your pain. And I agree, Vicodin is good for this purpose.
The pain can vary based on the size of the stones. (I've had the large and small varieties. Much suckage ensued.) The big ones hurt worse in part because they don't want to move and the ureter really is not meant to transport solids.
